The Oceanside Sanctuary
This has been a transformation project. When I came on as the solo, part-time pastor in 2015, the church had dwindled to about 40 active members after 45-years of decline. Today, it is a vibrant and growing LGBTQ-celebrating, social-justice oriented community of about 500 people who are actively engaged in community organizing for food security, anti-racism, and local police reform as expressions of the gospel in our context.
The Collective Table Podcast
The Collective Table is where Jenell and I explore theology, ministry, culture, social justice issues, and the changing landscape of Christianity. Episodes include author interviews, long-form storytelling, and seasonal contemplative reflections.
Decolonizing Religious Dis/Affiliation
My Ph.D. research project is an empirical study exploring how the rise of women’s religious disaffiliation in the U.S. may be understood as a symptom of the coloniality of gender in American Global North Christianities. My scholarly disciplines include decolonizing mission, gender and sexuality in Christianity, intercultural theology, the anthropology of Christianity, and the sociology of religious disaffiliation in the United States.
